A General Impression On Lingerie

The concept of lingerie being visually appealing was a development of the later nineteenth century. It is a common case with women to select underwear for three major purposes: to alter their shape, for reasons of hygiene, or for modesty. First they used to wear corsets and later girdles or bras. Women's underwear before the invention of the crinoline was often very large and bulky. As the 20th century progressed underwear became smaller and more form fitting. In the 1960s 'controversial' lingerie manufacturers like Frederick's of Hollywood begin to publicize lingerie and it developed.

The lingerie industry has expanded in the 21st century with designs that double as outerwear. The French refer to this as 'dessous-dessus' which fundamentally refers innerwear as outerwear.

This is not a good idea to buy the lingerie based on your assumptions because if it is wrong the gift will be a waste of money and time. The bra size is generally measured in inches or centimeters. You can also look for the medium, large or small cups.

The first thing that you should know before buying a set of lingerie for you is your size. Now, if you are purchasing it for your wife then you probably know what her size is and if not you can ask her straight away. But if it is for your girlfriend then it becomes tough to assume the size.

Often brides find that a one piece body shaper is the best answer-that assures no panty lines and provides a smooth look. Body shapers can also be very helpful for the bride concerned with her torso.

For hosiery it is most excellent to choose a size that fits you very well without bagging or slipping and one that will help support the stress on your legs from being on your feet and in heels for much of the day and evening. Choose good quality hosiery as it will be less prone to snag. Select a backless bra that hooks at the waist if your dress has a low-cut back. Let them see skin, not bra straps.

Slim down with a Lycra or spandex slimmer. This modern-day corset will keep you looking trim; just make sure it's comfortable for an extended period of time, and take it along to your fittings - it can change the fit of your dress.
